1st Blog...super excited!

Hi everyone!
I am so excited to start this blog. I have had a really difficult job trying to find blogs for my type of class. I am  the Moderately Developmentally Delayed (MDD) Special Ed teacher at a high school in California. This is my second year of teaching this type of class but my first year at this district. I have seen so many wonderful and creative blogs. I just wanted to join in and give my ideas and what I have found from other places.

  1. I'm glad you joined! I love following special education bloggers and seeing what others are doing in their classrooms. I really like your calender helper idea. Do the students earn fake money? How big is the school population where you teach? Thanks for sharing-I'm your newest follower, Heather

    1. All the students earn a weekly salary. I have a banker who pays everyone on Friday. They earn fake money and use it to pay for school supplies they want or stuff I put out when I open the class store. I haven't figured out how to make the store independent yet so a student can run it. I plan on making a bank next year where they can deposit their money and then track it with a bank book. There are about 3,000 students here. Its a large high school. I have 14 in my class, but I'm getting a new student tomorrow.

  2. Hi! I stumbled upon your blog. It sounds like you and I will be teaching the same type of classroom. I just started a blog too. I need a lot of resources as this will be my first year with this population at this age level. Check out my blog and please share your resources. If I get any I will gladly pass them along to you (if you want). Elizabeth
